AAU Basketball

For the past 3 years we have worked with athletes through our basketball program. Our AAU program works with students to achieve success both on the court and off. We have try-outs and players are selected to be on our teams, we wish we could keep everyone but we are limited due to the number of coach's we have available.

This year we will have a few teams. Some of our players will be returning from last year's 14u team, they will be coached by Sam Brown. Sam is currently the B team coach for Lexington High School. We are excited to work with these guys again this year and help them get better. One of our goals is to teach these players how to be men of honor, integrity, character, display teamwork, and live a life of faith. We are working on expanding our AAU program and are in need of people to coach various teams. If you are interested in making a difference and coach a travel basketball team let me know. Pray for our players as we work towards our goals. God Bless,

Basketball Challenge

I have the opportunity to do weekly devotionals with the varsity boys basketball team at Lexington High School. It's an after practice, volunteer thing for them to attend. It's been a great opportunity to get to know the guys a little bit and encourage them with God's word. Pray for the guys and the coach as they learn about life through the game of basketball.
This week's challenge was about team chemistry. Team chemistry is important for success. If a team doesn't have good chemistry it's eventually going to fail or at least fall short of it's goals. In 2001 Wake Forest had achieved a national ranking of #3 before dropping in the polls during league play. Throughout league play they achieved a .500 avg. Players on the team remembered how the moral was dropping and dropping fast. Some said it seemed as though they didn't care. The coach, Dave Odom, even threatened to not play some of their stars because of their effort level. Players mentioned how they felt that the team chemistry was gone by the time the tournament came around.
The team traveled to Atlanta for the ACC tournament with hopes that the chemistry would return. Wake Forest ended up being upset in the ACC and eventually lost to Butler in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

Team chemistry is crucial in reaching the desired destination. Talent can only take you so far.
If you have good chemistry figure out what you are doing and keep doing it. If you have bad chemistry, figure out how to fix it and make it better. If you work together you will make it farther.

"Sports do not build character...they reveal it."

Want to make a difference?

Our ministry is constantly looking for people who are interested in impacting the next generation through the avenue of sports. Have you ever thought about coaching? volunteering on a team? writing devotionals for sports teams? If so then you could get involved with Crossover. Throughout the year we mentor students through our sports leagues, clinics and travel teams.

Currently we are looking for people who are interested in coaching travel sports teams. If you already coach a team, you can add the Crossover element to what you already do. We use our teaching curriculum, and adult mentors to challenge the student athletes both on and off the court/field.

Do you have a child that wants to do travel ball? If so contact us. We are looking for opportunities to partner with parents and help athletes achieve their God-given potential.

If you are interested in partnering with us contact

It's the beginning of another season of flag football and we believe God will do some really neat things this season. We are distributing our playbook with challenging devotionals along with memory verses. We stress the use of the playbook in our leagues because we feel that's where growth in your spiritual walk takes place. Registration is open on our website so feel free to participate this season.
